Laundry Day Thoughts - 01.22.2001

Tom Bodett tells a story about his infant son who would wake up in his crib and greet the day with the word, "WOW!" Now, that is really taking in all the potential of the 24 hours that we are granted each day. Most days begin quite ordinarily.

Yesterday meant another move. Answering a need to have my desk and computer downstairs, Mike and Russ accomplished it this past weekend. Mike ran a CAT-5 cable off the router along with a phone line, so that it even includes a broadband Internet connection via the cable. It doesn't seem so long ago that just having a computer was a dream, next a broadband connection. Now all of it without having to get myself all the way upstairs. "WOW!"

Saturday, seeing grandbaby again after a week away on her first trip, her father showed me how he could get her to laugh each time he did a jumping-jack for her. When a baby laughs, it's contagious. No one can keep from laughing with her. To see her blue eyes dance with sheer delight and her little toothless gums show wide as she breaks into her big smile accompanied by her "ha-a-a-a!" "WOW!"

Today was happily broken up by two precious hours of "Granny time." Her cold makes it hard for little granddaughter... she has a cough and her nose gets plugged so she can't breathe. Babies don't mouth-breathe, so her sleep is freguently interrupted. She does better in a propped-up position, and so I just held her for over an hour while this angel granddaughter slept. Now this is certainly not a hardship, and it added so much pleasure to my otherwise ordinary day. Thanks for letting me help. "WOW!"

Finally, the last load is in the dryer, but today I haven't minded. "WOW!"
