Saturday was perfect and the setting was enjoyed by all her friends and family. The day included learning to feed carrots but not fingers to the ponies, hobby horse racing, roping the steer, horse-tire swinging, horseshoe tossing, riding around in the corral and of course a cook-out.
The birthday cake was decorated with a lavender pony!

BE YOURSELF
The Girl is Four
While we try to teach our children
all about life,
our children
teach us what
life is all about.

Country roads to home
When I was young and free
My friends all said to me,
“Forget about your cowgirl ways
A lady you should be.
“Take off those shiny spurs
And comb your pretty hair.
We will try to clue you in
On proper things to wear.
“Put away those denim jeans,
Hang up your leather chaps,
Apply a little makeup
And shave your legs perhaps.
“Pull off those cowgirl boots;
Ropes cause calloused hands.
Quit doing all that roping,
If you want to catch a man.
“Don’t wear that Stetson hat
For it will crush your curls;
Seems that even homely cowboys
Want obedient girly-girls."
Now, Granny says remember
We’ve each our path to keep
Or we’d come bunched together
Just like a flock of sheep.
The lesson here is simple:
"No matter what you do,
Stand up straight and tall.
Be you and only you!
Love, Granny
